Why Save Energy?

Because it will save you money. It’s as simple as that.

Nearly one third of the UK’s energy is used in our homes. If everyone reduced the energy their home wastes, it would benefit everyone’s wallets, and the environment too.

The vast majority of our energy comes from burning fossil fuels – oil, gas and coal. The amount of these fuels available for us to use is falling, which means prices are going to rise. Money is being invested in developing renewable energy sources such as wind, tidal and solar power, but in the meantime our fuel bills are rising.

We all want the money we spend on heating our homes to stay in our homes, not escape through windows, under doors or out of the roof. Insulating your house by double-glazing windows, filling cavity walls, draught proofing doors and laying insulation in the loft will all ensure that your money goes to heating the house, not the air outside it.

A financial investment is needed to make your home energy efficient but in time, these measures will be paid for by the money you save on heating. If you should choose to sell, an energy efficient home will be more attractive to buyers, as well as helping with the Home Information Pack (HIP) energy report.
